The Rising Demand for High-Performance Engine Oils

As automotive technology advances, the need for high-performance engine oils continues to grow. Modern engines, particularly turbocharged gasoline direct injection (TGDI) systems, operate under higher pressures and temperatures, requiring superior lubrication and protection. To address these evolving demands, the American Petroleum Institute (API) has introduced API SQ, a new standard set to take effect on March 31, 2025.

Meeting Global Standards with API SQ

API SQ aligns with the ILSAC GF-7 specifications and incorporates additional considerations for non-ILSAC viscosity grades such as SAE 0W-8 and 0W-12. This ensures improved compatibility with the latest engine technologies, optimizing fuel efficiency, engine cleanliness, and wear protection. By meeting these global standards, API SQ-certified oils will play a critical role in enhancing engine performance and longevity.
